Garz\u00f3n cobr\u00f3 fama\ninternacional&nbsp; tras dictar orden detenci\u00f3n contra Augusto Pinochet por la\nmuerte y tortura de ciudadanos espa\u00f1oles y por cr\u00edmenes de lesa humanidad\nacaecidos durante su mandato.&nbsp; La acci\u00f3n judicial se concret\u00f3 el 16 de octubre de 1998, mientras el\ndictador se encontraba en Londres.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A ra\u00edz del estadillo social, Garz\u00f3n difundi\u00f3 una carta\np\u00fablica dirigida al presidente Pi\u00f1era, en la que &#8211; entre otros puntos-&nbsp;\nexpresa: &nbsp;\u201cSepan que las violaciones de los derechos humanos que se est\u00e1n\ncometiendo y los cr\u00edmenes perpetrados en contra de la poblaci\u00f3n\ncivil,&nbsp;esta vez no quedar\u00e1n en la impunidad&nbsp;porque, adem\u00e1s de la\nFiscal\u00eda de Chile y del Instituto Nacional de Derechos Humanos, existe la\nJurisdicci\u00f3n Universal, existe la Corte Penal Internacional, el Sistema\nInteramericano de Derechos Humanos y una comunidad internacional atenta y\nvigilante, que no permitir\u00e1 que en Chile se vuelvan a repetir los horrores del\npasado\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El jurista participar\u00e1 en el encuentro impulsado por el\npresidente la Comisi\u00f3n de DD.HH. del Senador, el legislador Alejandro Navarro,\njunto a otros 100 expositores de 22 pa\u00edses, proveniente de Am\u00e9rica Latina y\nEuropa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Durante el desarrollo del encuentro se dar\u00e1n a conocer\nantecedentes sobre violaciones a los derechos humanos ocurridas durante las\nprotestas sociales en Chile, los que han sido recopilados por la Comisi\u00f3n de\nDerechos Humanos, Nacionalidad y Ciudadan\u00eda del Senado que preside el senador,\nAlejandro Navarro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;En su sitio web <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foladh.org\">www.foladh.org<\/a>\nse se\u00f1ala que el &nbsp;\u201cForo Latinoamericano de Derechos Humanos\u201d&nbsp;es una\norganizaci\u00f3n no gubernamental, creada con el objeto de promover y proteger los\nderechos humanos de todas las personas.
