Approvata con 53 voti a favore e 47 contrari la risoluzione presentata dal leader della maggioranza repubblicana\u00a0<strong>Mitch McConnell<\/strong>\u00a0sulle regole del dibattimento. I repubblicani hanno bocciato gli 11 emendamenti dei democratici, proposti dal leader della minoranza del Senato Chuck Schumer,\u00a0tra cui quello che prevedeva la testimonianza dell&#8217;ex consigliere per la sicurezza nazionale della Casa Bianca\u00a0<strong>John Bolton\u00a0<\/strong>e quello che prevedeva la convocazione dell&#8217;ex capo dello staff\u00a0<strong>Mick Mulvaney<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bloccata anche la richiesta dei democratici di acquisire alcuni documenti del Pentagono, del Dipartimento di Stato e dell&#8217;ufficio bilancio della Casa Bianca. Carte relative soprattutto alla decisione di Donald Trump di congelare 400 milioni di dollari di aiuti militari all&#8217;Ucraina, secondo l&#8217;accusa per fare pressioni su Kiev perch\u00e9 aprisse un&#8217;indagine sui Biden e sui democratici.\u00a0Il presidente americano intanto\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.repubblica.it\/esteri\/2020\/01\/21\/news\/davos_greta_tutti_parlano_di_clima_ma_non_e_cambiato_niente_-246278559\/?ref=search\">\u00e8 in Svizzera a Davos<\/a>, per partecipare al vertice annuale dell&#8217;\u00e9lite mondiale che quest&#8217;anno compie mezzo secolo.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La risoluzione McConnel fissa le regole per il processo, tra cui quella che accusa e difesa avranno tre giorni a testa per esporre le proprie considerazioni per un arco di tempo non superiore a 24 ore. Il presidente della commissione giustizia della Camera,&nbsp;<strong>Jerry Naddler<\/strong>, al termine della prima giornata ha accusato i repubblicani e la Casa Bianca di aver respinto tutte le richieste: &#8220;Solo chi \u00e8 colpevole cerca di nascondere le prove&#8221;.
