E\u2019 stato arrestato all\u2019aeroporto del Cairo gioved\u00ec scorso Patrick George Zaky,<\/strong> attivista e ricercatore egiziano di 27 anni. Il giovane era partito da Bologna, dove da alcuni mesi stava frequentando un master in Studi di genere presso l\u2019Universit\u00e0 \u2018Alma Mater Studiorum\u2019, e ora intendeva trascorrere un breve periodo di vacanza nella sua citt\u00e0 natale, Mansoura. Come ha riferito all\u2019agenzia Dire Amnesty International, una volta atterrato, \u00e8 stato preso in custodia dalla polizia egiziana. La notizia \u00e8 stata confermata sui social network anche dall\u2019associazione locale Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights (Eipr), con cui Patrick George Zaky collaborava. Di lui i familiari hanno detto di aver perso ogni notizia da gioved\u00ec notte fino a stamani, quando \u00e8 stato riaccompagnto a casa.<\/p>\n\n\n

Dopo l\u2019arresto, infatti al ragazzo non sarebbe stata data la possibilit\u00e0 di contattare n\u00e9 i famigliari n\u00e9 un avvocato. Amnesty, in base alle informazioni ricevute da fonti sia nel capoluogo emiliano che al Cairo, riferisce che Zaky \u00e8 stato arrestato per un ordine di cattura spiccato nel 2019, di cui lui per\u00f2 non era a conoscenza. Ignoti anche i capi d\u2019accusa contestati. Lo studente, stando alle stesse fonti, durante l\u2019interrogatorio potrebbe aver subito torture, tra cui l\u2019electroshock.<\/p>\n\n\n

L\u2019Agenzia Dire aveva contattato in passato Patrick Zaky in merito all\u2019ondata di arresti che negli ultimi anni si stanno registrando nel Paese, e che colpiscono attivisti per i diritti umani, oppositori politici, giornalisti e perfino gli avvocati che si occupano di seguire questo genere di casi. Nel 2018 l\u2019attivista aveva detto: \u201cL\u2019Egitto non \u00e8 affatto un Paese stabile<\/a>, ne\u2019 dal punto di vista socio-economico ne\u2019 delle libert\u00e0 fondamentali. La gente non trova lavoro, il costo della vita continua ad aumentare e il governo fa di tutto per limitare gli spazi del dissenso\u201d.
