Aveva assolutamente ragione. Il Cile, lungo pi\u00f9 di 4.000 km, chiuso dal deserto di Atacama a nord, dall\u2019Oceano Pacifico a ovest, dall\u2019imponente catena montuosa delle Ande a est, dal ghiaccio di Patagonia, Capo Horn e Antartide al sud, \u00e8 pi\u00f9 un\u2019isola che un\u2019oasi, ma solo per la sua geografia.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Il 18 ottobre l\u2019isola\/oasi\/Paese-alla-fine-del-mondo \u00e8 esploso cos\u00ec come di solito fanno i suoi vulcani, causando questa volta un cataclisma\/tsunami sociale che non sappiamo come andr\u00e0 a finire. La classe politica cilena si \u00e8 trovata priva di parole, senza sapere come reagire a un cambiamento di scenario totale, messa a confronto con tante richieste accumulate per decenni e di cui si invocava l\u2019immediata attuazione. Nella storica marcia che si \u00e8 tenuta il 25 ottobre a Santiago e in altre citt\u00e0, che ha riunito un totale di circa 2 milioni di persone, un manifestante ha riassunto nel suo cartello il senso della protesta: \u00abCi sono cos\u00ec tante cose da rivendicare, che non saprei nemmeno cosa scrivere qui\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L\u2019esperimento socioeconomico iniziato dopo il colpo di Stato che ha demolito il governo costituzionale di&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.treccani.it\/enciclopedia\/salvador-allende\">Salvador Allende<\/a>&nbsp;nel 1973 diede l\u2019avvio anche a una grande trasformazione culturale supportata dal terrore di una dittatura che non aveva scrupoli nell\u2019uccidere in Cile e all\u2019estero, come fecero col generale Carlos Prats, a Buenos Aires, con l\u2019ex ministro degli Esteri, Orlando Letelier a Washington o col tentato omicidio di Bernardo Leighton, ex vicepresidente del Cile, e di sua moglie a Roma. Dico culturale, perch\u00e9 le due generazioni successive alla dittatura sono composte da giovani che hanno assunto una realt\u00e0 che sembrava difficile da cambiare, il tutto addolcito dall\u2019illusione del consumo e del facile successo. La societ\u00e0 cilena del XX secolo, isolata, provinciale, ignara del consumismo, dell\u2019ostentazione, inizi\u00f2 a percepire i frutti della crescita economica accelerata che ha permesso negli anni Novanta, con il ritorno della democrazia, di ridurre i livelli di povert\u00e0 dal 40% a meno del 10% di oggi.
