E\u2019 l\u2019accusa mossa da Human Rights Watch (Hrw) in un report pubblicato oggi, dal titolo<strong>&nbsp;\u2018A Dirty Investment \u2013 Investimenti sporchi\u2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gli istituti denunciati nel rapporto sono<strong>&nbsp;il brittanico Cdc, l\u2019olandese Fmo, il tedesco Deg e il belga Bio,<\/strong>&nbsp;che hanno investito un totale di circa 100 milioni di dollari nella compagnia di Stato congolese Feronia e nella sua sussidiaria Plantations et Huileries du Congo S.A. (Phc), entrambe colpevoli di non fornire protezioni e pagamenti adeguati ai lavoratori.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le due aziende lavorano su oltre 110mila ettari di piantagioni di olio di palma nel nord del Paese e impiegano pi\u00f9 di 10mila persone. Cdc \u00e8 anche azionista al 38% di Feronia.&nbsp;<strong>Diversi gli abusi denunciati<\/strong>. Secondo Hrw, a causa delle mancanza delle protezioni adeguate oltre 200 lavoratori delle piantagioni sono rimasti intossicati da pesticidi riportando danni come impotenza e malattie della pelle. Le aziende finanziate dalle banche europee sono inoltre accusate di sversamento di rifiuti industriali non trattati in prossimit\u00e0 di zone abitate.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dire.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/congo_.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dire.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/congo_.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-394903\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nel documento viene sottolineato il rischio di&nbsp;<strong>grave inquinamento<\/strong>&nbsp;per il fiume Loeka, unica fonte d\u2019acqua per Boloku, uno dei villaggi in prossimit\u00e0 delle piantagioni.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L\u2019inchiesta si \u00e8 concentrata anche sui livelli di&nbsp;<strong>retribuzione<\/strong>. Alla ong nata negli Usa diversi lavoratori hanno detto di ricevere compensi pari a 1,20 dollari al giorno, al di sotto della soglia di povert\u00e0 estrema di un 1,90 dollari fissata dall\u2019Onu. Le donne lavoratrici sono poi sottoposte, sempre stando al dossier, a un trattamento ancora peggiore:<strong>&nbsp;le paghe mensili oscillerebbero tra i 7,3 e i 18,75 dollari.<\/strong>&nbsp;Gli esperti di Human Rights Watch hanno trascorso otto settimane in Congo, nel novembre del 2018 e a maggio di quest\u2019anno, visitando tutti gli stabilimenti delle due aziende e intervistando oltre 200 persone, tra cui pi\u00f9 di 100 impiegati e 20 dirigenti. Intervistati anche 25 funzionari del governo congolese, accusato di non essere in grado di assicurare il rispetto della legge da parte delle societ\u00e0.
