Interview with Mr. Yasutane Takafuji, Doctor of Health Science, President of Takafuji Research Institute

A plasma generation bed (PLASMA MED BED) capsule has been developed as a completely new health appliance. It is a mechanism that generates plasma, oxygen, and hydrogen inside the capsule, applies atmospheric pressure, and absorbs it into the body. We talked to Mr. Yasutane Takafuji , the representative of the developer Takafuji Research Institute, Kanagawa, Japan.

Research as a student triggered development

――What kind of substance is plasma in the first place?

The word plasma is flooding on TV, newspapers, magazines, etc., but it is originally the “fourth substance”. I think it’s easier to understand if you compare it with water. Water becomes solid when frozen. When heat is applied to a solid, it turns into a liquid, and when heat is further applied to the liquid, it turns into a gas. When more heat is applied to this evaporating gas, it is separated into hydrogen and oxygen and becomes atomic level. Similarly, plasma is a substance that exists at the atomic level.

It is known that the earth we live in exists in the universe, and that the universe is composed of 99.99% plasma. It is no exaggeration to say that the human body is also composed of plasma. Therefore, it is natural that if plasma is generated and utilized, it will be useful for human health.

――Please tell us how you tried to develop the plasma generation bed (product name “PLASMA MED BED”).

 I was studying plasma fluid mechanics as a graduation research when I was a university student. At that time, I heard from his professor, “I wish I could generate plasma with fluorescent lights.” The professor focused on the fact that a small amount of plasma was emitted from fluorescent lamps, but he said that generating plasma would not work. He was interested in this and helped with the research, which was the reason why he started researching plasma.

At the job interview, I was asked “what do you want to do” and I answered “I hope I can be healthy just by sitting on a chair”. I was wondering if I could use plasma someday.

――You realized the idea you had when you were a student.

 I developed the world’s first hydrogen suction device long before I developed the plasma generation bed. This is because we have long known that hydrogen is useful for human health.

The atmosphere contains 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and the remaining 1% contains carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen. The amount of hydrogen is a very small proportion of 0.00005%. When I researched what percentage of hydrogen is good for the human body, I found that 2-3% is good.

If the amount of hydrogen is as small as 2 to 3%, it can be generated by electrolysis. However, in electrolysis, hydrogen ions do not become negative, that is, active hydrogen cannot be produced. Therefore, we set out to develop a device that can generate active hydrogen. Fifteen to sixteen years ago, we succeeded in developing a generator with a hydrogen content of 2-3%.

After that, by obtaining a patent related to plasma, I thought, “I can do a lot of research with this.” Then, I thought about adding a plasma generator to the hydrogen suction device.

I thought that there was only a capsule to get plasma into the body through the skin, nose, and mouth. At that time, oxygen capsules were beginning to spread, and based on these oxygen capsules, hydrogen suction was also possible, and a plasma generator was added. Since they also generate nitric oxide, I thought that it would be useful for my health if I could inhale the four substances of plasma, oxygen, hydrogen, and nitric oxide into my body.

We have obtained a patent for a plasma generation bed, and the trademark “Plasma Med Bed” has also been registered. And it was completed on July 1st this year.

Two patents

――What is the content of the patent you obtained?

There are two patents that have been obtained. The first is how to generate plasma. Product development began with the creation of a coil of 5 volts or less and 1 amp or less, and a transformer that generated 400,000 bottles of plasma. I transfer 400,000 volts of plasma from metal to metal, but ordinary metal melts.

Even tungsten, the hardest metal on earth, was easily punctured. As a result of trying all kinds of metals, we arrived at titanium. Titanium is soft and light, but it turns out that it does not melt as much as tungsten when exposed to plasma. The first patent is the use of titanium on the transmitting and receiving sides of the plasma.

The second is an applied patent. Since it is necessary to convert the generated plasma into a DC power supply, we have also developed a DC power supply measuring instrument, which has made it possible to grow and treat plants. We obtained these as applied patents.

――It was a lot of work to develop.

 As I explained earlier, it was difficult to reach titanium. We’ve done thousands of tests with all kinds of metals.

It was also difficult to create a transformer. A high-voltage generator can also be called a transformer, but it was necessary to make the transformer smaller, and I was worried about whether to adopt a method called “Cockcroft” or a normal transformer.

Finally, based on a commercially available transformer, we decided to develop a transformer that allows heat to escape to make it durable and capable of continuous operation.

It took 43 years from the conception and 3 years from the start of development to complete the product.

Apply pressure and push it into your body

――Please tell us about the characteristics of the developed plasma generation bed.

 First, like general oxygen capsules, it generates 40% oxygen concentration, but it is characterized by not using any oxygen cylinders at that time. It compresses oxygen in the atmosphere and extracts only oxygen in the form of compressed gas.

Second, hydrogen is generated inside the capsule. Using a hydrogen cylinder is dangerous and difficult to carry. Therefore, I decided to use the hydrogen powder I developed. This hydrogen powder produces hydrogen when it comes in contact with water. By storing water in the capsule and putting the powder in the container, the hydrogen concentration in the capsule is reduced to 2 to 5%.

Third, 400,000 volt plasma is generated through two locations, one at the feet and one above the head. Negative ions are also generated at the same time as the plasma is generated, so the negative ions also fill the capsule. In addition, the generation of plasma brings nitric oxide in the atmosphere to the atomic level.

Furthermore, three types of atmospheric pressure can be applied inside the capsule: 1.2 atm, 1.3 atm, and 1.35 atm. By applying pressure, hydrogen, oxygen, plasma, and nitric oxide are pushed into the body through the skin, nose, and mouth. This will improve your health.

――Why do you need 400,000 volts of plasma?

 First of all, we need to understand that humans are robots. Humans are robots that are powered by DC power. Each cell is powered by electricity, and the human body is made up of four atoms. These four atoms are powered by a DC power source. It is known that the voltage is 150 volts or more and 200 volts or less. In other words, if you do not generate 400,000 volt plasma, you will not be able to generate a 150 volt DC power supply.

Used in training centers including medical institutions

-Is “Plasma Med Bed” a medical device?

 No, it is not registered as a medical device. It is the position of health equipment. When it comes to medical equipment, the general public cannot sell it. In addition, the procedure at the time of export becomes complicated. I want more people to use this product. Therefore, I will not dare to apply for it as a medical device.

――A major electrical equipment manufacturer also sells plasma generators for home use. How is it different from such commercial products?

 A major electric appliance manufacturer sells equipment that generates plasma in a wide range of spaces. In short, the difference is that the plasma generation bed I developed generates plasma intensively at one point, while it generates it widely and thinly.

Confirmed safety and functionality

――Are you worried about the side effects of using the plasma?

 First of all, there are no side effects. With the right amount of time to enter the capsule, you don’t have to worry about that. I recommend putting it in a capsule for 40-45 minutes. This is because it doesn’t make sense to put it in for more than 45 minutes, and depending on the oxygen concentration, headaches may occur if you put it in the capsule for a longer time. We are also checking the functionality. The subjects in the first test conducted after development were Ekiden (relay road race) athletes. When I asked 10 athletes who actually ran the Tokyo-Hakone Ekiden to try it, good data was obtained.

――What kind of initiatives are you planning for future research and development?

We are planning to develop a plasma generation bed for thoroughbred horses. I am pretty serious. I think this can be done by modifying the thoroughbred transport truck. I want it to be utilized for the physical condition management of thoroughbred horses.
